Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans Neighborhood Cirrus
We've created a few documents
(coming soon) that have
straightforward survival tips to help
you in the event of natural or human-
made disaster.  They summarize
much of the basic survival material
available on the websites listed to the
right.  There is also a handy family
disaster planner to get you started.

PLAN!

Don't put off creating your survival
plan.  It may feel uncomfortable, or
daunting, or just seem like a pain in
the....But, the time you take now
could save your life and the life of
your family/passengers later.  Like
the saying goes, "How do you eat an
elephant?   One bite at a time, of
course!" Tackle the critical task of
developing your survival plan little bit
by little bit.  That attitude will serve
you well in a true disaster just as it
does in your disaster planning.  Work
on your plan gradually until all the
pieces are complete.

A
Disaster Duffel or O.A.S.I.S.
Aviator Case will knock out most of
your planning in one, complete
package.

EXECUTE!

When the unthinkable happens, it will
be up to YOU to execute your plan.
After Hurricane Katrina, there was a
lot of finger pointing in the various
levels of government.  New Orleans
and the U.S. Federal Government had
good emergency plans...they simply
FAILED TO EXECUTE them.  You
cannot afford to make that mistake.

BE FLEXIBLE!

You must be flexible in a dynamic
situation.  As you put your survival
plan into action, be prepared to make
changes on the fly if the situation
calls for it.  Don't go to "Aunt
Martha's" house, if Aunt Martha is in
the path of the storm.  Always have a
"plan B" in your back pocket.  Even if
its something as simple as, "if cell
phones don't work, go to X (a
prearranged meeting place) and wait".

SURVIVE!

Survival is 10% gear and the skill to
use it.  The other 90% is all about
you.  Your attitude.  Your knowledge.
Your belief that you will survive.  Its
up to you,
Intelligent Survivor , so
grab your
Disaster Duffel and
       SURVIVE to tell the tale!
The following sites also have excellent
information on what to do in a survival
